Get Braces Treatment In Melbourne for a Happier Smile

Don’t live with a smile you aren’t proud to show off. Misaligned and crowded teeth are easily treatable with modern, effective braces treatment - talk to us about how we can help you achieve a happier, more confident smile.

    What’s Involved in Braces Treatment?

If your teeth aren’t where they should be, braces can likely help. Braces are a common orthodontic appliance used to give a smile a more natural, attractive appearance while improving its function and reducing the likelihood of developing further issues. They’re useful in treating:

    • Misaligned teeth
    • Crowded teeth
    • Open bite
    • Gapped teeth
    • Rotated teeth
    • Under or overbite

Braces are a simple, proven treatment technique that’s been popular for hundreds of years (just ask any of the thousands of patients we’ve already helped here at Mulgrave!). They work by exerting a gentle, controlled pressure on your teeth over time, shifting them into their desired position. There’s no big surgery, it all happens gradually.

Even better, while most dentists would require you to see a separate orthodontist to get your braces put in, here at our Melbourne practice we’re fully qualified to provide all the necessary services in-house. Whether you require traditional braces or you’re looking for a more discreet solution (such as clear aligners), we have the expertise and resources to deliver outstanding results.

    Our Braces Treatment Process

It’s important that you feel fully comfortable during your treatment process with us, making open communication essential. If at any point you feel nervous, uncertain or just want to ask a question, please don’t hesitate to speak up - we’re here for you.

It’s time to start your journey to a happier smile. During your initial consultation, one of our friendly dentists will evaluate the condition of your oral health and assess your suitability for braces. Through the use of X-rays, photographs and taking impressions of your mouth, plus a friendly chat about your individual goals, we’ll develop a personalised treatment plan that lays out how we’re going to go from here to the smile of your dreams.

This step is easy - and there’s no surgery required! To fit traditional braces, all we need to do is carefully bond a set of metal brackets to the front surfaces of your teeth using a dental adhesive. It’s a painless, simple process which won’t take long.

If you opt for clear ceramic braces or lingual braces instead (see below), we can also swap things up a bit - using tooth-coloured materials, or fixing your braces to the back surfaces of your teeth. This gives your braces a more discreet appearance.

Now your braces get to work and you can go live your life as normal. Every so often you’ll come back to the dentist for a regular adjustment appointment, where we’ll make tweaks to keep the process moving forwards - things like tightening or replacing elastic bands, making sure it’s all going well, etc. This helps us stay on track, and gives you plenty of opportunities to stay informed and ask questions.

At the end of the treatment period, your smile should be sitting exactly how you want it. And guess what? That’s it for your time in braces. Next, you’ll enter what’s called the retention phase, where you may be given a retainer by your dentist to help ensure your smile stays where we want it.

Your dentist will talk to you more about this during your appointment, as this step looks different for everybody.

    Benefits of Braces Treatments

There’s a lot of power in the confidence of a new smile, and braces are a great way to get there. But the benefits go beyond just the look - fixing the alignment of your bite and jaw can help you with your overall oral health, too.

    1

    Improved Oral Health

Properly aligned teeth are much easier to clean, reducing your risk of tooth decay, gum disease and related oral health issues.
    2

    Enhanced Appearance

Braces can significantly improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile. They straighten misaligned teeth, close gaps and correct bite issues, resulting in a more attractive and confident smile.
    3

Better Function of Teeth and Jaws

Orthodontic treatment can improve the general function of your teeth and jaws. By correcting problems like overbites, underbites, crossbites and open bites, braces help ensure you can properly chew and bite.
    4

    Preventive Benefits

By properly aligning your teeth and jaws, braces can help prevent issues such as excessive tooth wear, jaw joint disorders (TMJ) and uneven pressure on your teeth.
    5

    Long-Term Investment

By addressing orthodontic issues now, you can minimise the need for extensive dental treatments in the future and reduce your risk of other oral health complications. This makes treatment like braces an excellent long-term investment in your wellbeing.
    6

    Increased Comfort

Does your bite feel uncomfortable? Overcrowding and misaligned bites don’t feel ‘right’, and can also affect how you talk. We can alleviate that discomfort by correcting the positioning of your teeth through braces.

    Types of Braces Treatments

Here at Mulgrave Dental Group, your individual needs and preferences are our priority. We offer a few different braces treatment options, helping us to ensure we can cater for your unique mouth.

    Metal Braces

Metal braces are the most common and recognisable of the different braces types. They’re made up of metal brackets attached to the front surface of the teeth, connected by archwires and secured with elastic bands. Simple to install, and typically very effective.

    Clear Ceramic Braces

Clear ceramic braces are a more aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional metal braces. They use tooth-coloured or clear brackets that blend in with the natural colour of the teeth, making them less noticeable.

    Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are a highly discreet orthodontic option. Unlike traditional braces, lingual braces are placed on the back surface of the teeth, making them virtually invisible from the front.

    What Do Braces Cost?

The cost of braces in Australia can vary depending on a few factors, such as the type of braces chosen, the complexity of the misalignment and the expected duration of treatment.

During your initial consultation, our friendly orthodontic team will provide you with a detailed estimate of the cost based on your specific treatment needs.

    Finance Options for Braces Treatment

We accept a variety of payment methods for braces treatment and offer a number of interest-free payment plans to help make it easy to invest in your oral wellbeing.

We offer a variety of flexible payment plans for braces treatment. Here you can spread out the cost of your treatment, paying in simple, manageable monthly instalment. We offer both zero- and low-interest options, depending on your budget.

Financing programs are also available at Mulgrave Dental Group, allowing you to finance the cost of braces through reputable third-party financing companies. These programs often provide competitive rates and flexible repayment terms, simplifying the management of your treatment costs.

In some cases, you may be able to access a portion of your superannuation fund early to cover the cost of necessary medical treatment - including braces. We can guide you on whether or not you’re eligible, and if so, how to apply.

Dental insurance plans sometimes cover orthodontic treatment, including braces. If you’re not sure what your insurance will cover, chat with us during your appointment and we’ll help walk you through it.
