Get Clear Aligners in Melbourne for a More Confident Smile

Clear aligners are an increasingly popular alternative to traditional braces for achieving a straighter, happier smile. Feeling self-conscious about your teeth, or is your bite uncomfortable? Learn more about how clear aligners could help.

    What Are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are a breakthrough in modern orthodontics, solving many of the problems found in traditional braces while still providing an excellent treatment outcome. At Mulgrave Dental Group, we offer custom clear aligners designed to suit your lifestyle — including the option of Invisalign, the world’s most advanced clear aligner system.

If your teeth aren’t where they should be, clear aligners can likely help. Like traditional braces, they help to give a smile a more natural, attractive appearance while improving its function and reducing the likelihood of developing further issues. They’re useful in treating:

    • Misaligned teeth
    • Crowded teeth
    • Open bite
    • Gapped teeth
    • Rotated teeth
    • Under or overbite

Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners are designed to be more comfortable to wear and significantly more discreet in appearance.

Clear aligners are custom-made from a material called polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and designed to straighten teeth and improve bite alignment over time. They’re tailored to fit snugly over your teeth, made from transparent and durable materials to remain discreet and effective - in fact, they’re almost invisible.

How they work is very simple. Clear aligners gently and gradually exert controlled force to guide your teeth to their desired position, realigning your smile without the need for complex treatment or surgery.

Over time, you’ll progress through a series of aligners, each carefully crafted to match the next step in your personalised treatment plan, so you can continue living life without interruption.

Even better, while most dentists will require you to see a separate orthodontist to get clear aligners treatment, here at our Melbourne practice we’re fully qualified to provide all of the necessary services in-house. We know the transformative power of a confident smile, and we’re here to make this process seamless and comfortable.

    Our Clear Aligners Process

We want you to feel completely comfortable throughout your clear aligner journey, which is why open communication is so important. If you ever feel unsure about your progress, have any concerns, or simply have a question during your treatment, don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

During your initial consultation, our dentists will evaluate your oral health and assess your suitability for clear aligners. Through the use of X-rays, photographs and taking impressions of your mouth, plus a friendly chat about your individual goals, we’ll develop a personalised treatment plan that lays out how we’re going to get to the smile of your dreams.

Depending on your needs, this might include our in-house clear aligners or Invisalign aligners, known for their advanced technology and trusted results.

As one of the few dental practices in Melbourne with the advanced technology and years of expertise for both general dentistry and orthodontics, we use your impressions to fabricate tailor-made clear aligners designed for your unique mouth. If there are any issues, we will work with you to make sure your new aligners fit you like a glove.

Over the course of the treatment, you’ll pop back in to see us every one to two weeks to swap out your old aligners for the next set. Here we’ll also chat about how you’re getting on, and make sure you’re still comfortable and happy.

At the end of this period, your smile should be sitting exactly how you want it. And guess what? That’s it for your time in clear aligners. Next, you’ll enter what’s called the retention phase, where you may be given a retainer to help ensure your smile stays where we want it. Your dentist will talk to you more about this during your appointment, as this final phase looks different for everybody.

    Benefits of Clear Aligners

So what sets clear aligners apart from regular braces? Clear aligners are a more modern technology, offering greater comfort and discretion for most patients. We typically find most of our Melbourne orthodontics patients prefer the treatment experience with clear aligners rather than braces.

    1

    Discreet Appearance

Clear aligners are nearly invisible, allowing you to get the treatment you need without drawing attention to your smile.
    2

    Comfort & Convenience

People say they find clear aligners significantly more comfortable than traditional braces. The smooth and custom-fit design minimises discomfort and irritation, allowing you to get on with your life without noticing they’re even there.
    3

    Removability

Braces cannot be removed - but clear aligners can. If you need to, pop them out for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
    4

    Dietary Freedom

Clear aligners require no dietary restrictions, so you can enjoy your favourite foods without concern.
    5

    Predictable Results

With advanced 3D scanning and other digital technologies, we’re able to better plan and visualise your treatment progression, offering a clear picture of the anticipated outcome.
    6

    Minimal Impact on Speech

Clear aligners should have minimal impact on your speech, allowing you to communicate more naturally during treatment.

    Clear Aligners FAQs

Clear aligners are a relatively recent technology that works a bit differently to regular braces, so there’s a few things you might find useful to know before attending your initial consultation.

Clear aligners are simple and effective, requiring no complex treatment or surgery. Each set of aligners is custom-made to apply targeted, gentle pressure to specific, misaligned teeth. This pressure prompts your teeth to shift painlessly, bit by bit over time. As you progress through the series of aligners, your teeth move into their desired positions, resulting in a beautifully aligned smile.

Clear aligners are designed to be discreet and almost invisible. They’re made from a transparent material which blends seamlessly with your natural teeth. While they may be visible to anyone looking up close, they’re generally far less noticeable than traditional braces.

This makes clear aligners a popular choice among individuals seeking a subtle orthodontic treatment option.

Yes, clear aligners are designed with comfort in mind.

They’re crafted from smooth and thin material that should fit snugly over your teeth. While you may experience some initial adjustment as you get used to wearing them (as with anything new), most people find clear aligners to be comfortable and less likely to cause irritation than traditional braces.

Your dentist will talk to you about what’s right for your unique mouth, but generally speaking, we recommend patients wear their clear aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. You’re more than welcome to remove them every now and then if they’re going to get in the way, like for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.

No, clear aligners aren’t painful. That’s one of the things which makes it an excellent treatment option for all ages, even those who experience dental phobia or who’ve had bad past experiences.

Just like if you bought new shoes or put on new glasses, there will be a slight adjustment period when you start wearing each set of new aligners. But, it should go away as your mouth gets used to the feeling.

The vast majority of our patients think so, yes.

Consider your clear aligner treatment as an investment in your oral health, confidence and overall wellbeing. A straighter smile can not only enhance your appearance, but also contribute to better oral hygiene, improved bite alignment and increased self esteem.

The benefits of a new smile extend far beyond the treatment period, making it a valuable investment for years to come.

    Our Reviews

Thousands of happy patients have already visited Mulgrave Dental Group and come out raving about our high-quality service and friendly people.

I started going to Mulgrave Dental Group earlier in the year after reading their amazing reviews. It is the first time I have been really happy with a dentist. All staff are extremely friendly, warm and kind. The receptionists make you feel welcome as soon as you enter the door. Dr. Diluni and all the dental nurses I have seen have taken the time to explain everything thoroughly, and provide helpful treatment information. I used to dread going to the dentist and for the first time I can say I no longer do!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mulgrave dental clinic, and I must say that it was an exceptional experience.

From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of warmth and friendliness from the entire staff. The receptionist greeted me with a genuine smile and made the check-in process a breeze.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Mulgrave Dental Group.

The dentist made me feel safe and reassured me the whole time, also zero pain. The practice is very clean and welcoming. The receptionists are very caring and check up on you the following day. I’ve been to many many dentists over the years and this is by far the very best! Can not fault!

I can't say enough good things about Mulgrave Dental Group! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by their friendly staff. The clinic is immaculate and modern, which immediately put me at ease.

For someone that has a phobia of going to the dentist they made it incredibly seamless and I left feeling confident in my smile and grateful for such exceptional dental care. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for top-notch dental services!

The team here are friendly, warm, and excellent at what they do. I've come to Mulgrave Dental Group for a lot of work over the years - extractions, fillings, and implants. I am very pleased with the service and care I received, and want to shout out how thoughtful the entire team is with giving follow up calls and advice for managing pain or any issues after each of my procedures.

Dr Diluni and the team do amazing work, highly recommended.

Very friendly, professional and caring staff.

I am not usually good with dentists but Diluni and staff have made it much less stressful for me.

I have no hesitation in recommending them.
